Here is my first ever review for the North Adams Transcript: it's that hot new release Clerks II. Okay, it may not be new to you, but they've got some winding mountain roads in that part of Massachusetts, and it takes a while to transport the movies out there. Anyway, I just so happen to know the new arts editor of said publication - and you can click on "Last Visible Blog" over in the links column and read his thoughts on politics and funnybooks and whatnot - so my evil influence continues to spread.

Today I use this public forum to vent to my vast readership about HBO and Time Warner Cable. I expect heads to roll!

My beef is about The Wire, or more specifically, the heavily hyped and oft-advertised plan to have the first episode of the new season debut on HBO On Demand nearly a week before its premiere next Sunday. “See it first” they said! “September 4th!” they said! Well, it’s now September 6th and the damn episode still hasn’t turned up on HBO On Demand here in Austin. I have emailed both HBO and Time Warner about this heinous situation and the silence has been deafening. Why, it’s almost enough to make me to pick up the phone and speak to a live customer service representative! Except that would be kind of sad. “Why won’t you let me watch the television show? You said I could watch the television show but the television show is not available to be watched!” No, I can’t bring myself to do that. So instead I rail here at my blog about this injustice. Judging from the forums at the HBO site, I am not alone in my plight. Ironic, no, that this show about the incompetence of bureaucracies is not available to me thanks to the incompetence of bureaucracies? Will I be forced to illegally download this episode I have already paid to see? Or worse yet, WAIT UNTIL SUNDAY???!!

Anyway, I have said my piece! You may not want to hear it, but I can only speak truth!

Here's some fall preview crap. I wrote the calendar listings, plus the entries signed "S.V.D." Writing this stuff makes my head hurt, but I reckon it beats digging ditches.

Lassie

Okay, so the new format didn't really work out. I haven't been keeping up with my Netflix, Deadwood is dead and gone, and the Red Sox season has become a modern American tragedy. So forget all that. Look for the new all-limerick format starting next week! Limericks every day! Dirty ones on Thursdays!

Or no.
